Biography
Hi my name is Lilly Vogelesang and I am a 3D artist. My most recent project was as a production manager and compositor for the short film "The Offering", created by Michael Zachary Huber and produced at Cogswell Polytechnical College. See the website here: http://www.projectxfilms.com
I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and subsequently raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Growing up in a bilingual city, I learned to speak French at a young age. I grew up loving both the arts and sciences. When I was 16 I went to Japan for a year to study abroad at St. Maur International School where I further pursued my studies in the sciences. I then attended Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California, where I was a member of the Robotics Club, and was able to participate in the national F.I.R.S.T. robotics competition in Florida, where we placed in the top ten out of hundreds of schools. I decided to pursue my interest in the sciences further by going to UC Davis to study Mechanical Engineering, and earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Japanese in 2006. It was during this time that I decided that I could not be fulfilled by pursuing the sciences alone, and I decided to pursue academically my passion for the arts.
Thus I came to Cogswell Polytechnical College, excited by the idea of being able to combine technology and art into one degree. At Cogswell I studied 3D Modelling, Texturing, Lighting & Rendering, and Compositing. I was fortunate enough to be offered a position as Production Manager on "The Offering", a short film being produced at Cogswell. I was also a compositor and a modeller on that project. After completing "The Offering", I moved back to Montreal, Canada, where I was offered a position as a Consultant at Toon Boom Animation, inc. I am so happy to be working there, helping studios to make the best use of the various 2D Animation softwares in order to produce wonderful television shows and movies.
